Common questions

Signing in

I forgot my password

On the sign-in page, choose Forgot password? and enter your email address. We will send you a link to set a new one. The link works for a limited time, so use it soon after it arrives. If it does not show up, check your spam or junk folder and confirm you entered the address on your account.

I lost access to my two-factor authentication app

If you turned on two-factor authentication and no longer have the device or app that generates your codes, email support@conservativestates.app from the email address on your account. We will verify it is you before turning two-factor authentication off so you can sign in and set it up again.

Do I need a separate account for the app and the website?

No. One account covers the website and both mobile apps. Sign in with the same email address and password everywhere, and your tracked bills, letters and settings follow you.

Subscriptions and billing

How does the subscription work?

Conservative States is a subscription with a free trial for new accounts, billed monthly or yearly. The State plan covers your state legislature. The State + Congress plan adds the U.S. Congress, and you can switch between the two views from your dashboard.

Subscriptions are purchased on the website, not through the App Store or Google Play, so they will not appear in your Apple or Google subscription lists. The mobile apps use the same subscription as the website.

How do I change my plan, update my card or cancel?

Sign in on the website, open Settings and look for Subscription, or choose Billing from the menu under your name. That opens your secure billing page, where you can change plans, add U.S. Congress, update your payment method, download receipts or cancel.

When you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for and are not billed again. If you believe you were charged in error, email support@conservativestates.app with the date and amount and we will sort it out.

Your representatives and address

My representatives are wrong or missing

Your state legislators and members of Congress are worked out from your street address. Open your Profile on the website (or Settings in the app) and check that the address is complete and current, including the house number and ZIP code. Saving a corrected address updates your districts and representatives right away.

If a seat is vacant or recently changed hands, the new member appears once the legislature publishes the change. If your address is right and a representative is still wrong, email us and we will look into it.

I moved. How do I change my state?

Update your address in your Profile. If you moved to a different state, email support@conservativestates.app and we will move your account to the new state's legislature.

Letters to legislators

How are my letters delivered?

Letters go to the office in the way that office accepts them. If you connected a Gmail or Outlook account in Settings under Email Accounts for Advocacy, the letter is sent from your own address and a copy lands in your Sent folder. Otherwise the app can open the letter in your mail app for you to send, or deliver it through the office's official contact form or, for members of Congress, the constituent-communication systems run by the House and Senate.

Every letter is signed with your name and, unless you turn off Include my street address in letters in Settings, your street address. Offices use the address to confirm you are a constituent, and many will not read a letter without it.

Why can't I send another letter about the same bill?

You can write once to each office at each stage of a bill: while it sits in a committee, and again when it reaches the floor of a chamber. This keeps your letters credible with the office. When the bill moves to a new stage, you can write again.

I sent a letter and have not heard back

Offices receive a great deal of mail and most do not reply individually, especially during a busy session. Your letter was still counted. You can see every letter you have sent, with the date and recipient, on each bill's page.

Notifications and the apps

How do I change which emails and alerts I get?

On the website, open Settings and find Notifications. In the app, notifications are also under Settings, and your phone's own notification settings for Conservative States control whether alerts appear on the lock screen. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link.

The app is not loading or shows an error

  1. Check that your phone has an internet connection.
  2. Close the app fully and open it again.
  3. Install the latest version from the App Store or Google Play.
  4. Sign out and sign back in from Settings.

If it still fails, email support@conservativestates.app with your phone model, its operating system version and the app version shown at the bottom of Settings.

Something in a bill looks wrong

Legislative data is powered by LegiScan, which gathers bill text, status, votes and sponsors from each legislature's official records and sends us updates throughout the day. Summaries and analyses are generated by AI from the bill text and are a starting point, not legal advice. If you spot an error, email us the bill number and what looks wrong, and we will check it.

Your account and data

How do I delete my account?

You can delete your account yourself from Settings on the website or in the app. The Delete Your Account page walks through the steps and explains what is removed and what is kept.

I signed up through an advocacy organization's page

Organizations use Conservative States to run their action pages and alerts. Questions about an organization's campaign, its messages to you or your membership belong with that organization, and every message it sends includes an unsubscribe link. Questions about signing in or how the page works are welcome at support@conservativestates.app.
