Where do I see upcoming hearings?

The Capitol Calendar lists upcoming committee hearings and votes on bills you follow and bills on your issues.

Committee hearings are where most bills are decided, so the calendar is the best place to see where your voice matters soon.

  • Website: Capitol Calendar in the menu shows Upcoming Committee Hearings for bills you follow and bills matching your interests. Filter by chamber or category, or check Tracked Only to see just your own bills. Each hearing links to the bill and to Take Action, and marks the bills you have already written about as Contacted.
  • App: the Calendar tab. Hearings show the time and room in the state capitol's time zone, for example "1:30 PM Central · Room 12". Save to calendar adds the hearing to your phone's calendar as a one-hour event.

Home also shows This week at the Capitol for hearings on your followed bills this week.

Why a hearing might be missing

  • Not every legislature publishes its schedule the same way, and some post hearings only a few days ahead. If the legislature has not posted it, we cannot show it.
  • Schedules change. Committees postpone and reschedule often. We show the newest date we have received, but always check the legislature's own site before you travel to a hearing.
  • The legislature may have adjourned. Between sessions the calendar says nothing is scheduled. Interim committees sometimes still meet.
  • For U.S. Congress, committee meetings come from Congress.gov, the official site of the Library of Congress.

Hearing reminders

The app can remind you before a hearing on a bill you follow. See the article on push notifications and hearing reminders.
