How do I follow a bill, and where are the bills I follow?

Following a bill puts it on your list and lets you turn on alerts for it; hiding a bill takes it out of Browse.

Following a bill (called tracking on some website pages) adds it to your own list so you can keep an eye on it.

Following a bill

  • Website: choose Track on a bill in Browse Bills, or Follow on a bill's page.
  • App: swipe a bill row to the left and tap Follow, or tap Follow on the bill's page.

When a bill has a companion bill in the other chamber, following one follows both. See the article on companion bills.

Where your followed bills are

  • Website: My Bills in the menu.
  • App: the Following view on the Bills tab.

Each bill shows its status, where it is now, and links to its text, AI analysis and Take Action. Your list shows only the bills from the legislature you are viewing. Bills you followed in an earlier legislature are still saved. At the end of the current list, a summary of the previous legislature's bills offers a one-tap switch to see them.

Alerts for a bill

Following a bill does not send alerts on its own. Turn them on per bill:

  • Website: the bell on the bill's row in My Bills, or Notify me of updates on the bill's page.
  • App: the bell at the top of the bill's page.

See the articles on email and push notifications.

Unfollowing and hiding

  • Unfollow removes a bill from your list. In the app, swipe left on a Following row. On the website, use the bill's page.
  • Hide removes a bill from Browse and from the suggestions on Home. Hidden bills are listed under View hidden bills on the website's Browse page, or Settings then Hidden bills in the app, where Unhide brings them back.
