Why does it say I already wrote to this office?
You can write once to each office at each stage of a bill, and once per round on an issue page, so your letters stay credible.
To keep letters credible with the offices that receive them, you can write to each office once at each stage of a bill. A stage is the bill's time in a particular committee, or its time on the floor of a chamber. When the bill moves to a new committee or reaches the floor, you can write again.
What you might see
- "Already written to" next to a name in the recipient list. That office already has your letter for this stage, so it cannot be selected.
- "You have already written about this bill at this stage. You can write again once it moves to another committee or the floor."
- "You have already written to these officials from this page. You can write again when the organization starts a new round." This appears on pages about an issue rather than a single bill. The organization can open a new round when it wants supporters to write again.
- "Your letter is already sent" as the heading of the window, when there is nothing left to send at this stage.
What counts
The rule is about you and the office, not about the page you used. A letter counts whether it went from your connected email account, through your email app after you chose Yes, I sent it, through an official web form, or through delivery on your behalf. It also counts if you wrote about the same bill at the same stage from another organization's page or from a Conservative States subscription.
When a letter could not be delivered
If a letter we were delivering for you shows Couldn't be delivered, it does not count, and you can try again for that office.
What to do now
If you still want to reach an office this stage, you can call it or write to it directly. Otherwise, the organization will usually let you know when the bill moves and there is a new chance to weigh in.
If this does not solve it, contact the organization you signed up with. Their staff can reach us on your behalf.
