Conservative States

What limits should I know about?

The few deliberate limits in Conservative States, from one legislature at a time to letters per stage and signed-in devices.

A few things work the way they do on purpose. Here they are in one place.

What you see

  • One jurisdiction at a time. On the State + Congress plan, you look at either your state or the U.S. Congress, and switch between them on your dashboard. Notifications about bills you follow arrive from both, whichever one you are looking at.
  • One legislature at a time. Within your state, you look at one legislature, meaning a regular session together with its special sessions. When a new session's bills start arriving, you can switch to it with the Legislature control on your dashboard.

Letters

  • One letter per office per stage. You can write to each office once while a bill is in a given committee, and once while it is on the floor of each chamber. When the bill moves on, you can write again. On an organization's page about an issue rather than a bill, you can write once per round.
  • Up to 30 recipients in one send on an organization's page.
  • Daily limits. As of this writing, up to 100 letters in 24 hours from one account, and no more than 3 a day or 10 a week to the same legislator.
  • Some offices cannot be reached automatically. If an office publishes no email address and no form we can deliver to, it is marked and cannot be selected. You can still call or write to it directly.

Your account

  • Signed-in devices. One account can be signed in on 2 web browsers, 1 phone and 1 tablet at the same time. Signing in on a third browser signs out the one used least recently. Signing in on a second phone asks whether to replace the phone already signed in.
  • Address changes. You can change your address once every 6 months. Email us if you moved and need to change it sooner.
  • One account per person and per email address.

Information

  • Updates take a little time. Legislatures publish first; the change reaches us shortly after. The legislature's official website is always the authoritative record.
  • Some features are in only some states, such as seeing side by side how a bill would change current law.
