How do I see the letters I sent and whether they were delivered?
The window shows each letter's status right after you send, and My Actions on your supporter dashboard keeps your full history.
Right after you send
When you finish, the window says "Thank you for taking action!" (or the organization's own thank-you message) and lists each recipient with a status:
- Sent means the letter left from your connected Gmail or Outlook account. The window also says how many emails were sent and from which address.
- Delivering… means we are delivering the letter to that office for you. This can take a little while, and it carries on even if you close the window.
- Delivered means the office's system accepted the letter.
- Couldn't be delivered means the office's system did not accept it, with a short reason when we have one. That letter does not count toward the one-letter-per-stage rule, so you can try again.
Letters sent through your own email app are recorded when you choose Yes, I sent it. Letters you paste into an official web form are recorded when you choose I sent it.
If you see "One of your letters could not be added to your record with" the organization, the letter was still sent; only the record on your dashboard is missing.
Your history
On your supporter dashboard, Recent Actions shows your latest letters, and My Actions in the menu on the left shows "Your complete action history across all campaigns," with the Date, Action, Bill, Recipient and the bill's current Bill Status.
Letters sent from a connected Gmail or Outlook account also appear in your email's Sent folder. Letters sent from your email app are in that app's sent mail.
I have not heard back
Legislative offices receive a great deal of mail, and most do not reply to each letter, especially during a busy session. Your letter was still received and counted.
