Conservative States

How do I change how our alert emails look?

Settings > Alert email design controls the header, fonts, colors, Take Action button and footer around every alert.

Every alert is your message inside a frame: a header at the top, your text in the middle and a footer at the bottom. You set up the frame once and every alert uses it.

Open the menu under your name, choose Settings, then Alert email design. Only Owners can change it. Other roles can look but the controls are locked.

What you can change

  • Header: Show header turns the colored band at the top on or off. Header content can be your Logo, your Name or Both. You can also set the logo width, alignment, font, background color, text color and padding.
  • Message typography: the font, text size, text color and link color for the body of every alert. Fonts are limited to ones email apps show reliably.
  • Layout & background: the message background, the page background around it, the content width, padding and whether corners are Rounded or Square.
  • Take Action button: background color, text color, font, text size, bold label, corner radius, padding, alignment and Full width (stretches the button across the message, which reads well on phones).
  • Footer: the Copyright line, a Disclaimer (for example "Paid for by…"), your Mailing address, an Opt-in reminder ("You are receiving this because you opted in…"), plus the footer's font, colors and text size.

The Preview on the right shows a sample alert built the same way real alerts are built, so what you see is what supporters get.

Click Save design to keep your changes. Reset to default goes back to the starting design.

How it connects to Branding

Until you save a design, your alerts follow the Branding section of Settings:

  • The header uses your Branding primary color.
  • The Take Action button uses your Branding secondary color.
  • The footer disclaimer uses your Branding disclaimer text.

The logo in the header always comes from Branding. If you upload a new logo there, alerts use it right away.

Once you save a design, it keeps the colors and text you saved, even if you change Branding later. Click Reset to default to follow Branding again.

Changes apply to alerts already written

Take Action buttons pick up the button design when an alert is sent. If you restyle the button, drafts and scheduled alerts get the new look too.

What you cannot change

Two things at the bottom of every alert are always there:

  • The unsubscribe link. The law requires it for bulk email, and Gmail and Yahoo require a one-click unsubscribe from bulk senders.
  • The "Powered by Conservative States" credit.

The footer always runs in this order: copyright, disclaimer, mailing address, opt-in reminder, unsubscribe link, platform credit.

A mailing address is required

The CAN-SPAM Act requires a physical postal address in bulk email. Add yours under Mailing address, for example:

Example Taxpayers Alliance 123 Main St, Suite 200 Springfield, IL 62701
