What does the Analytics page show?
The Analytics page shows supporter actions, sign-ups, conversion and email opens over a period you pick, plus the best times to send alerts and how your bills are read on your own website.
Open Analytics under Administration in the left navigation. It shows supporter activity, conversion and outreach for your whole organization. Everyone on your staff can see it.
Choose a period
The buttons at the top right set the period for everything on the page:
- 7d, 30d (the starting choice) or 90d: the last 7, 30 or 90 days.
- Session: from January 1 of the first year of your state's current legislature until today, special sessions included.
For 7d, 30d and 90d, each number is compared with the same length of time just before it, shown as a green or red change. Session has nothing to compare with, so it shows no change. A number with nothing to compare against shows new.
Export PDF opens your browser's print window, where you can save the page as a PDF.
The numbers across the top
- Actions: actions your supporters took, such as sending letters through your action pages.
- Supporters: your total supporters today, with growth over the period.
- Conversion: of the visitors who reached one of your action pages, the share who went on to send. The change is shown in percentage points.
- Avg actions / supporter: actions divided by the number of supporters who took at least one.
- Email open rate: of the alert emails delivered in the period, the share that were opened.
Each card has a small line showing the trend across the period.
Actions over time
A chart of actions across the period, with all campaigns and your top campaign shown as separate lines.
Action funnel
How visitors moved through your action pages, across all of them: Page visits, Engaged (read the message), Clicked CTA (clicked the button to act) and Submitted (sent). Each step shows a count and a percentage of the first step. A visitor who opened an action page placed on your own website counts as a page visit.
Best send times
A grid of alert open rates by day of the week and hour of the day, based on when each alert was sent. Hover over a square to see the open rate and how many emails were opened and delivered. When enough alerts have been sent, a Recommendation names the best-performing times. Until then the grid says it needs more data.
Top legislators contacted
The legislators your supporters wrote to most through your action pages, with the number of messages and each legislator's label (Ally, Friendly, Swing or Opponent). The Legislators article explains those labels.
Your website
If your organization has connected its WordPress website, a Your website section shows how your bills are read there over the same period:
- Bill page views, Visitors, Take action clicks, and Letters from your website, each with its change and trend.
- Bill page views over time.
- Website funnel: visitors who read a bill, clicked Take action, and sent a letter.
- Top bills on your website: views, visitors, clicks and letters for each bill. A letter is credited to the bill whose Take action button was clicked.
Views of your bills on your organization's own Conservative States pages count here too.
Until a website has reported a visit, this section shows a short note with a Website settings link. Connecting the website and turning visit reporting on or off are covered in the article on the WordPress plugin.
Common questions
Conversion looks low. It counts every visitor who reached an action page, including people who only looked. Compare periods rather than reading one number alone.
Best send times is empty. It needs alerts sent in the period. Pick a longer period, or send more alerts.
Campaign and action page numbers. Each campaign and action page has its own results, including where signups came from. Those are covered in the campaigns articles.
If this does not solve it, email support@conservativestates.app and tell us your organization's name.
