Where do I find the key for our website?
Connected WordPress sites do not use a key you copy; an Owner approves the connection, and the site gets its own read-only access.
You do not need to copy a key to connect your website. The WordPress plugin connects with an approval step instead.
- In WordPress, install the Conservative States plugin and open Settings, then Conservative States.
- Enter your organization's address, for example
exampletaxpayers.conservativestates.app, and choose Connect. - You are sent to the portal's Connect a WordPress site page. An Owner signs in and approves.
- You return to WordPress, connected.
Only an Owner can approve a connection. If someone else tries, the page says to ask an Owner to sign in and try again.
What a connected site can see
A connected site can show only what you publish:
- The bills you mark Show on website, with your positions and statements.
- Your published action pages, so supporters can write to their legislators there.
It cannot see your supporters, their letters, your notes or anything you have not published. This is a different kind of access from a partner API key, which can read supporter data.
Seeing and disconnecting sites
Connected sites are listed in Settings, under Website embeds. Choose Disconnect to cut a site off. Its bill pages and action pages stop updating until it is connected again. Changes you make in the portal reach a connected site within five minutes.
For installing the plugin and what it shows, see the article on the WordPress plugin. For staff who want to work from inside WordPress, see the article on linked staff accounts.
If this does not solve it, email support@conservativestates.app and tell us your organization's name.
