What happens when I cancel, or a payment fails?

After you cancel you keep access until the end of the period you paid for; a failed payment needs a new payment method.

When you cancel

Cancel from your billing page (Settings, then Subscription, then Manage billing on the website, or Manage subscription on the web in the app).

  • During the free trial: you are not charged. Your access ends when the trial would have ended.
  • On a paid subscription: you are not billed again, and you keep full access until the end of the month or year you already paid for. Settings shows "Your subscription will not renew. You have access until" that date.

Until then you can change your mind. Settings shows Renew or manage billing, which opens the billing page where you can resume.

When the subscription ends, your account stays. Signing in takes you to the plan page, where you can subscribe again. Your followed bills, analyses and letter history are still there. A second free trial is not offered.

Canceling does not delete your account. To delete it, see the article on deleting your account.

When a payment fails

If a renewal payment does not go through, Settings shows Payment past due with the note "Your last payment did not go through. Update your payment method to keep access." Open Manage billing and update your card. Our payment processor retries the charge.

If you are taken to the "Choose your plan" page instead of your dashboard, do not start a second subscription. Email us and we will help you update the card on your existing one.

If this does not solve it, email support@conservativestates.app with the email address on your account.
