How do I sign in, and why do I need two-factor authentication?

Staff sign in at the organization's address with email, password and a six-digit code from an authenticator app, which is required for every staff account.

Every staff account uses two-factor authentication. It protects your supporters' information and your organization's sending reputation, so it cannot be turned off.

Your first sign-in

You join the portal from an invitation email sent by an Owner of your organization.

  1. Open the link in the invitation. The link works for 7 days.
  2. On Set Your Password, choose a password of at least 8 characters, confirm it and choose Set Password & Continue.
  3. On Set Up Two-Factor Authentication, scan the QR code with an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator or Authy. If you cannot scan it, type the Manual entry key into the app instead.
  4. Enter the 6-digit code the app shows and choose Verify & Complete Setup.

If the page says Setup Error, the invitation has expired or was already used. Ask an Owner to send a new one.

Signing in after that

  1. Go to your organization's address, for example exampletaxpayers.conservativestates.app.
  2. On Staff Login, enter your email address and password and choose Sign In.
  3. On Two-Factor Verification, enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app.

Your session lasts about a day. After that, you sign in again.

After five failed attempts in a short time, sign-in pauses with "Too many login attempts. Please try again later." Wait 15 minutes and try again.

I forgot my password

On the sign-in page, choose Forgot password?, enter your email address and we will send you a reset link. Your new password must be at least 8 characters. If the email does not arrive, check your spam or junk folder.

I lost my authenticator app or phone

There is no self-service reset for two-factor authentication. Email support@conservativestates.app from the email address on your staff account and tell us your organization's name. We will confirm it is you, then reset two-factor authentication so you can set it up again at your next sign-in.

I get "Invalid credentials" but my password is right

This message also appears when your email address is not a member of the organization at that address, or when your access was removed. Check that you are on your own organization's address, then ask an Owner to confirm you are listed in Settings, under Team & access.

If this does not solve it, email support@conservativestates.app and tell us your organization's name.
