Is there an API, an AI assistant connection or a WordPress plugin?
Organizations can connect their own systems through the Partner API, connect AI assistants through MCP, and show their bills on WordPress with our plugin.
These tools are for organizations that use Conservative States. Individual subscriber accounts cannot connect them yet.
Partner API
The Partner API lets an organization connect its membership database, CRM or data warehouse to its supporters, their actions and its campaigns, with signed webhooks that tell your system when something changes.
- An organization owner creates a key under Settings, Partner API & webhooks, after confirming that supporter data will be shared with the system the key goes into. Keys begin with "cs_org_".
- A key is shown only once. If one is lost, revoke it and create another.
- The API never returns the text of supporters' letters; the subject line is the only message content it carries.
- Read the Partner API guide, and try every endpoint with your own key in the interactive reference.
AI assistants (MCP)
An organization's team can connect AI assistants, such as Claude, to Conservative States through MCP, the Model Context Protocol. The connection is read-only: it can look up bills, votes, legislators and calendars, but it can never write, send, publish or change anything.
- An organization owner first turns on Settings, MCP connections, External AI access. That alone gives no one access; each person then connects their own assistant.
- Owners and editors can connect; analysts and viewers cannot.
- Signing in from the assistant is the only way to reach your organization's own tracked bills and positions. A pasted token reaches public legislative data only.
- Setup steps for each assistant are in the MCP guide.
WordPress plugin
The Conservative States plugin shows an organization's bills, positions and action pages as pages of its own WordPress site, in its own theme, as blocks, shortcodes or Elementor widgets. Staff can also track bills and publish action pages from WordPress with the same permissions they have in Conservative States.
- Download the plugin from the WordPress section of the developers page and upload it under Plugins, Add New, Upload Plugin.
- Open Settings, Conservative States, enter your organization's address and choose Connect.
- An owner of your organization approves the connection. Your team can then link their own accounts.
Organizations without WordPress can place their bill list and action pages on any website with the embed codes in their organization settings.
Building with an AI coding assistant
A public agent skill teaches coding assistants how the Partner API works. Install it with the command shown on the developers page: npx skills add conservative-states/skills
