How do I see an earlier legislature, or bills filed for the next session?
You view one legislature at a time, and a switch at the top of Home moves between the current one and earlier ones.
A legislature here means one regular session plus any special sessions held during it, for example the "114th General Assembly" or the "2026 Regular Session". States that meet every year have one per year.
You look at one legislature at a time. Home, Browse, your followed bills, Analyses, the calendar and your statistics all follow the legislature you choose. Unless you change it, you see the current one.
Switching
- Top of Home: choose the legislature's name, shown beside your state, and pick another from the list. On the website, a Legislature menu at the top of the dashboard does the same.
- Settings: the Legislature section has the same choice under Showing.
The switch appears only when there is more than one legislature with bills.
Looking at an earlier legislature
Home becomes a look back: the bills you followed and how they turned out, bills on your issues that passed, and the letters you sent. A banner at the top offers Back to current. The calendar says nothing is scheduled, because that legislature has adjourned.
Before a new session: prefiled bills
In many states lawmakers file bills weeks or months before the session opens. During that time Home says how many bills have been filed so far and when the legislature convenes. The first time you see this, a short note explains it. You can read and follow these bills right away. Hearings and votes begin when the legislature convenes.
Your bills from the previous legislature are still saved. Switch to it from the top of Home to see them, or use the summary at the end of your followed bills.
