How do email alerts work, and how do I change or stop them?
Turn on alerts per bill with the bell, control email in Settings, and use the unsubscribe link in any alert email.
How alerts work
Alerts are set bill by bill. Follow a bill, then turn on its alerts with the bell (Notify me of updates on the bill's page on the website). You will hear about:
- New actions, such as a committee vote or a floor vote
- New amendments
- Changes in the bill's status
- A placeholder bill being rewritten
- Your analysis going out of date because the bill changed substantially
Alerts go to email, to your phone as push notifications, or both.
Turning email alerts on or off
- Website: Settings, then Notifications, then the Email Notifications switch. While it is on, Settings shows how many bills have alerts on.
- App: Settings, then Notifications, then Email alerts.
Turning off both email and push also clears the alerts you set on individual bills, so you will need to turn those back on with the bell if you change your mind.
Unsubscribing from an email
Every alert email includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Using it stops those emails without signing in.
Some emails are part of running your account and are always sent, such as password reset links and your subscription welcome email. Your payment receipts come from our payment processor, Stripe.
Not getting alerts?
- Check that the bill's bell is on, and that Email Notifications is on in Settings.
- Check your spam or junk folder, and add our sending address to your contacts.
- Remember alerts come when something happens. A bill waiting in committee can be quiet for weeks.
If this does not solve it, email support@conservativestates.app with the email address on your account.
